Munich Hops Club - OKOCIM Euro Pale Lager

Munich Hops Club

On Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at 6:00 PM
Note: This is a NEW date, the 4th Wednesday this month!
Featuring: OKOCIM Euro Pale Lager

History

An old-established brewery, which, after operating on a fairly modest scale for the first 50 years, was already producing around 400,000 hl by the time of the first world war. The interwar period was rather more difficult and far smaller quantities were produced. During most of this period, from 1851 to the German invasion in 1940, the brewery was owned by the Götz family. The period after the Second World War again saw a rapid growth in output, though initially this was only low gravity beer.

The beers are lagered for periods varying from 4 weeks for the 9%, to 5 months for the Porter. The brewery was thoroughly modernized in 1993 when conical fermenters were installed. Theirs are some of the Polish beers more commonly found abroad..

What to expect:

Pour: Golden in color, and perfectly clear with a thick off-white head that settles to a thin froth on the surface. Somewhat sticky lacing and good head retention make this an attractive beer.

Aroma: Grassy and slightly hoppy aromas, as well as some slightly sweet pale malt

Smell: Not much on the nose. Biscuit and honey, with some floral, grassy hop notes.

Taste: Taste is bready, dry, and quite crisp. Some light sweet malts, and a mineral hoppy finish. Simple, but fairly tasty and refreshing.

Mouth Feel: Mouth feel is not bad, crisp, snappy carbonation, and decent body.

Drinkability: Enjoyable throughout, can't taste the alcohol at all. It's easy to drink and refreshing.

Alcohol Content 5.6%

Price only $15 per person (includes gratuity)
The price includes a stein of beer and complete dinner buffet designed to compliment the beer of the night. Including a locally raised, oven roasted pig cooked in the authentic German style!

Dinner-Buffet served 6:00 to 7:30PM
