Munich Haus Hops Night July 20, 2011

Munich Haus Hops Night
On Wednesday, July 20th, at 6:00 PM

Featuring:
Julius Echter Hefe-Weissbier

History

Julius Echter Hefe-Weissbier Hell is a German Hefeweizen beer by Würzburger Hofbräu (Schörghuber), a brewery in Würzburg, Bavaria. Today Würzburger Hofbräu is the only brewery in Würzburg, Lower Franconia's metropolis.

Würzburger Hofbräu has a rich tradition: The brewery was founded in the year 1643 by the Main-Franconian Prince-Bishop Johann Philipp von Schönborn and is therefore the oldest business still in existence in Würzburg today. Today Würzburger Hofbräu presents itself as one of the most modern breweries in Europe.

What to expect:

Pour: The pour is a very hazy golden color with a couple fingers worth of soapy white head.

Aroma: Aromas of flowers and lemon for the hops, yeast, and clove.

Smell: The clove aroma on this beer is just awesome. Not so much in the banana department (though not totally deficient), but a touch of peel and some nice sweet wheat notes.

Taste: Its medium body has all the good dry wheat, fruity yeast with notes banana, dry spice and a hint of barley grain. The hops add a light bitterness and some dryness to the rather snappy finish..

Mouth Feel: The body is medium with a moderate but lively carbonation. Its active carbonation keeps thing light, lively and refreshing.

Drinkability: This is defiantly a very solid and refreshing Hefeweizen.
